Blog: Thanks To Viewers Like You By: John Heisz

This site has really grown over its short life span. This month is already drawing to a close and once again, it has substantially bettered the previous months numbers, in terms of pages viewed and visitors. I’d like to thank everyone who has visited and I hope you found something here that interests you and I hope you’ll return.

There are many factors that contribute to growth and I’d guess that probably the most significant has been the steady addition of content. I’ve been working hard to keep it coming and keep the subject matter diverse and of good quality. I’m reaping the benefit of that effort in a direct way: I’m getting more gear finished and more stuff done around the house!

The articles that have been spearheading the growth are: #1 – my homemade table saw and #2 – the box joint jig. The table saw article was one of the first ones posted here and is very popular, so no surprise that it’s top dog. What is surprising is that the box joint jig is in second place. I thought that honour would have went to the band saw or first router table – both have been on here longer and my assumption was that they would get more visits. It’s remarkable since the box joint jig is a relatively recent addition, and hasn’t had the “head start” that the others have had. Indeed, I give it one month at its current pace and it will supplant the table saw article as most viewed article on this site.

Along with that, I have had a steady stream of requests for plans for this jig. My answer to those who have asked is that I don’t have plans yet, and that there are improvements I want to make on the jig before I
can get plans together. I have been putting it off, but I think that now is the time to get at it. This might mean that I will not have anything to post on one of the next few Saturday’s (this next one is covered – I am putting the finishing touches on that project now), as I try to catch up.

Also of rather dire importance are the seven other project plans that I have mostly finished. I need to get these done and posted – that’ll be another weight off my shoulders.

I’ve gotten several requests for the box joint jig complete, assembled and ready to use (in fact, the one built in the article and used on the video is in the hands of a new owner – he couldn’t wait and was very persuasive…). I can’t say yay or nay firmly at this point, but I’m leaning toward eventually making these available. Time will tell.
