Blog: Varied Interests By: John Heisz
I posted the first article (of many, hopefully) in the Electronic Projects section of the site last week. Long overdue, I apologize to anyone who had been looking in there and left with reading the ‘under construction’ or ‘coming soon’ note. I confess: ‘Under construction’ means I’ll do it later, when I have time. I found some time and drew on my stash of older pictures to do that first article. I’m not actively doing any electronic projects yet, but that will soon change.
With winter coming, I feel the tug of that particularly addictive hobby. Cold days lend themselves to indoor pursuits and keep me out of my unheated workshop, for the most part. I guess I’m fortunate to have another hobby that I find as engaging as woodworking, to keep me out of trouble in the off season.
But before I can embark on any hobby related projects, I need to finish my roof. With a run of good weather (fantastic weather, actually) over the past week, I’m now well over the hump. Thanks to some timely help from family members (who has friends, when there’s a roof to do?), my original estimate of 1 month was drastically reduced. I now have maybe 2 or 3 more days left until completion.
The roof, as it looks today:
Only the opposite side of the higher roof left to do, plus some odds and ends.
Along with the sensation of a huge weight being lifted from my shoulders, there is the very satisfying feeling of accomplishment with getting this particular job done. In my quest to renovate this house and get it ready to sell, this was the one big task that I wasn’t looking forward to. With this done, all of the other, smaller jobs seem more manageable.
Now, maybe I can squeeze in a ‘for fun’ project without feeling guilty.
