Large Toolbox Plans

The single biggest improvement you can make in your workshop is efficient, compact storage. When you can easily grab a tool and put it back, knowing exactly where it belongs, you save time and aggravation.

This mechanic’s style large toolbox will hold an incredible amount and keep it all neatly organized and free from dust. The upper six drawers are shallow, while the lower four are deeper for larger items.

It’s 45-3/4″ (1162mm) wide, 19-1/4″ (489mm) deep from front to back and 28-1/2″ (724mm) high without wheels.

The drawers run on full extension slides that you can make yourself. If you prefer, you can use metal ball bearing slides instead without any changes.

It has a large work surface on top and with heavy duty casters it’s mobile. Or you can build a simple base to install it permanently.

Feel free to look through the detailed build article for this project to see if it’s right for you.

The plans consist of:

  • a materials list
  • 5 cut diagrams for the plywood used to make the cabinet and drawers
  • 13 detailed drawings showing all of the dimensions and assembly steps

The plans are easy to follow and all of the dimensions are in both imperial and metric, with the metric dimensions (millimeters) in brackets. Screw sizes and other hardware are in imperial units.

Please read these important notes before buying these plans.
