Ultimate Wooden Clamp Plans

Need more clamps and want to make your own? This is the project for you. If you love working with wood, that should extend to the type of clamps you use as well. These easy to make clamps are not just beautiful, they are also very capable, lightweight and convenient to use.

I’m calling these Ultimate because unlike a lot of the homemade clamps that are out there, these work exactly like the metal ones you can buy. And are capable of more than enough clamping pressure for every woodworking operation. Add to that how light these are, and you have a new favourite for your shop.

As designed, the fully open capacity is 7″ (178MM) making these very versatile. And since these are made from wood, they are a lot less likely to dent or damage a delicate glue-up.

But wait! There’s more! This plan includes a larger version – a 20″ (508MM) model with a full open capacity twice as much.

Feel free to look through the detailed build article for this project to see if it’s right for you.

The plans consist of:

  •  A material list (same for both versions)
  • 1 overview drawing
  • 4 detailed parts drawing, showing part name and dimensions
  • 5 assembly drawings detailing every step in the assembly process
    For the 20″ (508MM) version:
  • 1 overview drawing
  • 4 detailed parts drawing, showing part name and dimensions
  • 5 assembly drawings detailing every step in the assembly process.
  • The plans are easy to follow and all of the dimensions are in both imperial and metric, with the metric dimensions (millimeters) in brackets. Screw sizes and other hardware are in imperial units.

Please read these important notes before buying these plans.
