Tip: Sharpen A Carbide Saw Blade By Hand
For a general tune-up of a blade that is starting to get dull, I use a diamond grit honing stick that has been attached to this angled piece of wood:
I just used double sided tape and positioned it flush with the edge.
The wooden strip is about 12″ long and is cut to a 20 degree angle:
The angle tilts the honing stick up to match the rake angle of the tooth on my blade. To sharpen the blade, I just slide it back and forth keeping it 90 degrees to the blade. You can fine tune the angle by raising or lowering the blade.
This method works great to restore the edge on these low cost blades and can be done in a matter of minutes.
